Maria: Maria Cristina Escanan-Cooper

Mrs. Cooper was educated in private girls schools from elementary school through high school, then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, Philippines. Mrs. Cooper earned MBA units from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and was working to earn a Graduate Certificate in Special Education from St. Joseph's College, Quezon City, Philippines, while maintaining a high-pressure job at a leading manufacturing corporation before she came to the United States.

Mrs. Cooper has two remarkably talented and charming children. Both her daughter Thea and son Thomas are attending Asia's oldest university, the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. Thomas is a sophomore and Thea is graduating this year.

Mrs. Cooper came to the Academy with a strong background in administrative functions, having acquired decision-making, and organizational skills from many years of working with demanding senior level leaders in both Executive and Judicial branches of the Philippine government, and the corporate world. She provided the Academy Founder with full administrative support before the Academy opened its doors in 2004 and had numerous responsibilities within the school in its first year of operation as a full-time volunteer working 14 to 16 hours a day.

As the Chief Administrative Officer, she is a key part of the Academy's three-person management team, consisting of the School Leader/Academy Director, the Chief Administrative Office and the Lead Teacher.

Mrs. Cooper has little time to do the things she would love to do like reading, singing, dancing, gardening, cooking and playing tennis with Mr. Cooper.
