Mrs. Kristine Smith joined the staff in January of 2006. Previous to this she taught for 3 years in Rochester, MN as a 4 and 5 grade teacher. She has been teaching for six years at the elementary level. She has taught a variety of subjects from reading and math to at-risk students to advanced leveled reading. She attended St. Cloud State University and received her Bachelor of Science in elementary education graduating with honors.

She attended Hamline University where she received her English as a Second Language license. She did her student teaching in Costa Rica and Adams Spanish Immersion school in St. Paul. She loves to travel, play sports, coach volleyball, and be outdoors.

Outside of the academy, Mrs. Smith loves to take bike rides with her husband and spend time with her children, Carley, Emerson, and Mahalia. She loves being a part of the academy and what the academy does for all the students that attend everyday.

Philosophy

The Academy's philosophy is not simply that all children can learn, but more importantly that all children will learn. There are no shortcuts to academic success and no excuses for failing to achieve it. Together, students, parents, and teachers will create a culture of achievement and success.

The Academy prepares its graduates to live thoughtful and purposeful lives equipped with the tools to engage successfully in their own "pursuit of happiness," thereby contributing greatly to the good of their communities and their families.
